FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Authorities in Broward County are investigating an overnight shooting.

It happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the area of Southwest Second Street and Third Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

According to police, officers were in the area breaking up a fight when they heard a gunshot.

Multiple people were detained at the scene and investigators found one gun, but authorities said they initially did not locate any victims or people with injuries.

Soon after, police said a man arrived at Plantation General Hospital with a gunshot wound considering non-life-threatening.

That victim did not cooperate with investigators in regard to the shooting, police said.

One of the people who were initially detained at the scene spoke to Local 10 News following their release.

“Handcuffs for no reason,” said the man, who did not wish to be identified.

“Were you given any sort of explanation?” asked Local 10’s Linnie Supall.

“No, I’m an innocent bystander,” he said. “They said, ‘Get on the floor’ and I just did what they told me to do.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
