PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A death investigation is taking place in Pembroke Pines.
Authorities said two people were found dead inside a home located at 8330 Pine Drive.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at 7:12 a.m. reporting two people has been found unresponsive at the home.
The address is located within the campus of Children’s Harbor, which provides transitional housing for young adults aging out of foster care.
Children’s Harbor President Theresa Kennedy told Local 10 News’ Liane Morejon phone that the unit in question does not belong to the company and is owned and managed by the city of Pembroke Pines.
According to BSO, officers with the Pembroke Pines Police Department arrived to the unit and found two people who were pronounced dead.
Pembroke Pines police requested assistance from BSO, which is now the lead department in the investigation.
BSO described the investigation as an isolated incident and added that there are no threats to the community at this time.
A neighbor told Local 10 News they heard gunshots overnight.
“I just heard boom boom boom and I thought, ‘Well, that’s not thunder,’” said Nori Selina. “I came out at 7 and police said two people were inside deceased.”
Authorities have yet to release the identities of the people who were found deceased.
“It’s two people, the guy just comes outside and smokes cigarettes,” said Selina. “They just said hi, no problems before. This is crazy.”
Local 10 has also reached out to the city manager of Pembroke Pines for more information.
