MARGATE, Fla. — First responders are always racing to save lives.
Exclusive body camera video obtained by Local 10 shows what happened when police and firefighters responded to a scene in Margate where a mother and her 2-year-old daughter had been struck by lightning.
The call came into a fire station in August, setting off an urgent response.
The body camera video shows first responders working to save 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow and her 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi.
Responders were also told to make sure arriving units did not block any entrances.
The lightning strike killed Glasgow and her daughter.
Once it was safe, first responders immediately began working to save them.
Responders also worked to keep the area clear as they continued the effort.
The body camera video shows firefighters continuing chest compressions as they worked to save the mother.
The baby was eventually taken to North Broward to be flown out.
At a memorial service in August, Glasgow’s husband and Kennedi’s father, Kameron Glasgow, spoke about how much he misses his soulmate.
“I want her to be remembered as the life of the party, the one that wants to help and never want anything in return,” he said.
Kameron Glasgow said he is appreciative of all the first responders, police and firefighters who never quit trying to save his wife and daughter.
He also said Kennedi’s twin sister is doing the best she can.
Wednesday marks one month since Glasgow lost his wife and daughter.
