FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A woman was taken into custody Tuesday night after a marked Broward Sheriff’s Office vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the agency’s Public Safety Building in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

According to BSO, 911 dispatchers were notified shortly after 9 p.m. that the marked vehicle had been stolen from the public parking lot area of the building, located at 2601 W. Broward Blvd.

Investigators worked to locate the stolen vehicle with assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol, Port St. Lucie Police Department and St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was eventually located along the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Gatlin Road in Port St. Lucie, according to BSO.

Authorities stopped the vehicle and immediately took the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Shannon Dillon, into custody.

Court records show Dillon was previously arrested in Broward County on Aug. 21.

Online jail records show she faces numerous charges, including grand theft of an emergency vehicle, unlawful use of a police badge, unlawful possession of identification, possession and/or use of drug equipment, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, driving with a suspended license and resisting an officer without violence.

BSO said the investigation remains ongoing.
