DAVIE, Fla. — Two people were killed in a fiery crash in Davie early Thursday morning.
It happened at around 4:45 a.m. in the 6500 block of Nova Drive, near College Avenue.
Officials said two cars were involved. A Chevrolet Corvette was sent into a utility pole and his or her car caught fire.
Authorities said that two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The people in the other vehicle weren’t seriously hurt.
“I saw a fire and then a lot of police, no lights and people race down the street all the time,” witness Carlos Cusco said. “And then I saw there was a car. I didn’t know what kind of car it was and a body on the on the floor. So it looked like a Corvette they were saying.”
The crash knocked out power to traffic signals at the nearby intersection.
Officials have not provided additional details about the crash as of around 7 a.m. Thursday, including the victims’ identities.
A spokesperson for the Davie Police Department said that the agency’s traffic homicide detectives were investigating.
