MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla — A sweet, timid dog named Mama is hoping to find a family to call her own after spending several months at Miami-Dade County Animal Services.
Mama came to the shelter as a stray and, based on her condition, appears to have recently had puppies. Sadly, her puppies were never found. Despite being young — likely under two years old — Mama has been repeatedly overlooked.
Shelter staff say Mama is extremely sweet and simply needs some patience and time to feel comfortable. While she was nervous in the car and in the unfamiliar TV studio, her tail kept wagging whenever she saw someone.
Staff say fostering could be a great option for someone who wants to give Mama a chance to blossom in a calm home environment.
And Mama isn’t the only dog looking for a family. Amos, a larger adult dog who has also been at the shelter for months, is waiting for his chance, too.
The message from Animal Services is simple: don’t overlook adult or larger dogs. They can make wonderful companions when given the right home and a little love.
