MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Since their 2-7 start following an embarrassing loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Dolphins have rallied to win three straight games and will look to extend their season-best winning streak to four on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against the New York Jets (3-9) at MetLife Stadium.
At 5-7, the Dolphins are starting to get fully healthy, with head coach Mike McDaniel telling local reporters Friday that all players on the 53-man roster will practice except defensive back Elijah Campbell.
The two teams met at Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 29, with Miami picking up its first win of the 2025 season, 21-17.
That game featured the debut of Dolphins tight end Darren Waller – targeted four times, catching three passes for 27 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
The Dolphins built a 14-point lead three different times in the game.
Jets quarterback Justin Fields, who passed for 226 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score in the loss, won’t play Sunday because of knee soreness, according to the Jets.
Veteran Tyrod Taylor, a familiar face to the Dolphins, will take Fields’ place, and rookie Brady Cook will serve as the backup.
“He’s a very fiery guy,” Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said of Cook. “The one thing that we do quite a bit in practice is we have a number of competition periods. And you see exactly how he goes about his business when his time comes up to be in that situation to compete.
He’s going to be a quarterback in this league. I do know that. I can’t tell you when, but he will be a quarterback in this league,” Glenn added.
A Dolphins win Sunday would mark the second time Miami has swept the Jets under McDaniel.
Having also swept the New England Patriots in 2023 and 2024, McDaniel would join Don Shula as the only Dolphins coaches to sweep multiple AFC East opponents multiple times during their tenure.
