MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins promoted senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik to offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.
Slowik, 38, also interviewed for the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator position.
Slowik will look to improve a Miami offense that finished 24th in the NFL in passing offense last season with 3,322 yards and ranked 25th overall, averaging just over 300 yards per game.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa tied for second in the league with 15 interceptions, trailing only Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (17).
Slowik was best known for his time as the Houston Texans’ offensive coordinator in 2023 as quarterback C.J. Stroud and the unit finished 12th in scoring (22.2 points per game) and yardage (342.4). Stroud ran away with AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in leading the Texans to their first playoff appearance in four years.
The Dolphins are continuing to reshape their coaching staff and are now seeking a defensive coordinator after head coach Jeff Hafley confirmed on Thursday that he will call the team’s defensive plays.
Miami also reportedly hired a special teams coordinator and an assistant general manager on Friday.
