CORAL GABLES, Fla. — After recording their 23rd win of the season this past Saturday, the University of Miami Men’s Basketball team finally caught the eye of national pollsters, earning a spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time this year.
Following a 76-54 blowout win over Boston College, the Hurricanes enter the rankings at No. 22, marking their first appearance since Dec. 11, 2023.
Led by first-year coach Jai Lucas, Miami is 23-6 overall and sits third in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 12-4 record.
The team has won six of its last seven games, with the only loss during that stretch coming by just three points against No. 13 Virginia.
Forward Malik Reneau has lead the way in scoring for the team with just over 19 points per game.
Center Ernest Udeh Jr. has dominated on the boards by grabbing 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, while guard Tre Donaldson is the team’s main distributor by averaging nearly six assists per game.
The team has also seen lockdown defensive effort from guard Tru Washington, who averages two steals per game.
Miami will close out the regular season with a road game at SMU on Wednesday, followed by a home matchup at the Watsco Center against Louisville on March 7 before the “madness” begins.
