PITTSBURGH — The Miami Dolphins selected Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor with the 12th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night after trading down one spot with the Dallas Cowboys.
Proctor, 20, is 6 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 359 pounds, and is expected to compete for a starting guard position or right tackle, which is currently held by Austin Jackson.
Proctor played three seasons for the Crimson Tide, starting 39 games at left tackle in three years. He was also able to carry the ball five times for 16 yards.
He entered the NCAA transfer portal after his freshman season with the Crimson Tide, and transferred to Iowa. He then returned to Alabama the summer before his sophomore year.
In 2025, Proctor started all 15 games as a junior, earning first-team All-SEC honors and consensus All-America recognition.
Proctor is Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley’s first draft selection with the team.
The Dolphins came in with a clear need on the offensive line but many fans were left surprised after Miami decided to pass on Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr., who was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 15.
Miami received the No. 12 overall pick, along with picks No. 177 and No. 180 in the fifth round, in the trade with Dallas.
The Cowboys selected Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs with No. 11.
As of Thursday, the Dolphins’ draft capital includes:
• Round 1: Kadyn Proctor
• Round 1: No. 30 (Denver)
• Round 2: No. 43
• Round 3: Nos. 75, 87, 90, 94
• Round 4: No. 130
• Round 5: Nos. 151, 177 (Dallas), 180 (Dallas)
• Round 7: Nos. 227, 238
Miami traded its sixth-round pick to the New York Giants in exchange for tight end Darren Waller.
