1 injured in Davie crash near Liberty Park, police say
DAVIE, Fla. – One person was injured during a car crash on Monday afternoon near Liberty Park in Davie. According to Sarah Andeara, a spokeswoman for the Davie Police Department, the crash was at the intersection of Southwest 136th Street and Southwest Eighth Street. Fire Rescue personnel airlifted the person who suffered potentially life-threatening injuries to Broward General Hospital, according to Andeara. DAVIE, Fla. – A group of Davie firefighters met on Thursday at Robbins Park to train with a few of the Davie Police Department’s horses and their handlers on how to rescue animals during emergencies. Vincent Martinez, the battalion chief of the Davie Fire Rescue Department’s training division, said the town’s residents own horses, cows, goats, and lamas. She is the owner of the Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, an instructor, and an expert on horse-handling issues. School bus driver saves 5 children from fire in Davie
DAVIE, Fla. – A school bus driver rescued a group of children when the bus caught on fire on Thursday afternoon in Davie, police said. The fire started in the back of the bus while the driver was on State Road 84 East near Hiatus Road, according to Sarah Andeara, a spokeswoman for the Davie Police Department. “The driver quickly pulled the school bus over and evacuated 5 children,” Andeara wrote in a news release. Police investigating possible DUI after car goes into canal in Davie
DAVIE, Fla. – A driver was rescued from an SUV that went into a canal after police received reports of a single-car crash early Sunday morning. Davie Police Department said they responded to the 4300 block of Southwest 45th Street around 4:15 a.m. and that’s when they found a vehicle in a canal. The driver — who police said was the only occupant — was still inside. Officers went into the canal and were able to get the person out of the SUV. According to Davie police, the accident is being investigated as a DUI — driving under the influence.
Thief steals FedEx cargo truck; abandons it behind Walmart
DAVIE, Fla. – A thief stole a FedEx truck on Friday afternoon from a parking lot near Nova Southeastern University in Davie. The Isuzu cargo truck vanished from 7901 SW 36 St., according to Sarah Andeara, a spokeswoman for the Davie Police Department. The thief traveled southbound on University Drive and didn’t go very far. Officers respond to a report that a FedEx truck was stolen on Friday in Davie. Body of missing 21-year-old man found in Davie lake, police say
DAVIE, Fla. – The body of a 21-year-old man was found in a Davie lake Monday, police say. Nicolas Pineda had been reported missing, and investigators believe he drowned overnight. Officers from the Davie Police Department received a call about a missing person around 9 a.m. and responded to the area of the 3100 block of Palm Trace Landings Drive. They say they found several articles of clothing near the shoreline of the lake, and a dive team located the deceased body underwater. It’s unclear if there was any foul play, and it’s also unclear if Pineda lived in the gated community.

A peaceful student-led sit-in in the courtyard of Pembroke Pines city center was largely made up of students from the Somerset Arts Conservatory many of whom had just graduated virtually that morning. On Tuesday, a peaceful protest organized by two teenage students took place in Coral Springs, and another march happened near Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise. County commissioners met Tuesday and discussed ways that they can respond to the message sent loudly by the community through these protests.
While police chief investigated, Town of Davie announces acting chief
DAVIE, Fla. – The former police chief of the Town of Davie will be acting police chief while an investigation continues into alleged remarks made by Davie Police Chief Dale Engle. Patrick Lynn, who served as Davie’s Police Chief for almost 10 years before he retired in 2017, was named acting police chief Thursday by Town Administrator Richard J. Lemack. Engle is on paid administrative while allegations brought forward by the Fraternal Order of Police against are being investigated. The Florida State Fraternal Order of Police sent a letter to the Town of Davie's administrator about remarks allegedly made by Davie Police Chief Dale Engle. Woman accused of illegally performing cosmetic procedures at Davie home
DAVIE, Fla. – A woman was arrested Monday on accusations that she was illegally performing cosmetic procedures at her home in Davie. An undercover detective contacted Jimenez via social media and inquired about meeting the suspect for a cosmetic consultation, the arrest report stated. Police said Jimenez scheduled an appointment for the detective for the morning of Feb. 12. According to the arrest report, Jimenez said she would charge $550 for the injections and that she only accepts cash or payments through apps like Cash App and Zelle. According to the arrest report, Jimenez denied injecting the victim with anything and claimed she only applied a topical solution to the woman’s abdomen.
Man dies after shooting in front of Davie home
A Monday night shooting left a family in mourning in Davie and a killer on the loose, according to the Davie Police Department. Lt. Mark Leone, a spokesman for the department, said officers found a man dead inside a car about 9 p.m. in the driveway of a home at 2700 SW 116 Ave., in the Majestic Groves community. Leone said the man was shot several times and the detectives’ investigation was ongoing Tuesday afternoon. Detectives have yet to release the identity of the shooting victim. According to the multiple listing service that real estate brokers use, the 3-bedroom home was listed for $1.08 million on Dec. 6.
Suspected motorcycle club members sought in man's fatal beating
DAVIE, Fla. - Davie Police Department detectives are still searching for the suspected motorcycle club members responsible for a brutal beating that resulted in a 57-year-old man's death last year. Detectives suspect they were Outlaw Motorcycle Club members. Michael Kline was beaten July 4, 2018, outside of the Road Dawgs Saloon at 13010 W. State Road 84. Kline's son also told police officers he remembers seeing several Outlaw Motorcycle Club members there, and his father had argued with one of them a few weeks earlier. Before the beating, Kline left the bar to buy cigarettes at a nearby Exxon gas station.
