Aug. 18: Extreme heat sends actual temperatures near 100 degrees in South Florida

Miami could reach 99 degrees for the high temperature on Tuesday. If so, it would be the hottest temperature we have experienced since 1942. That year was the only time Miami hit 100° on record. We will likely shatter the daily record high temperature of 96°. A heat advisory is in effect through Tuesday evening with no rain in the forecast to bring us relief.

Spotty afternoon thunderstorms return Wednesday and will be with us each day into the weekend. This will bring our temperatures down to the low to middle 90s. It will not feel any different since humidity will be higher.
