GODLEY, Texas – Students at a North Texas elementary school are rejoicing after their teacher announced a no homework policy.
A post going viral on Facebook shows a letter to parents from a second grade teacher at Godley Elementary School imposing the new policy.

After much research this summer, I am trying something new. Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day. There will be no formally assigned homework this year. Research had been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. Rather, I ask you to spend your evening doing things that correlate with student success. Eating dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early.
The parent who posted the letter says her daughter is loving her new teacher already.
