Barry University closes South Florida campuses Wednesday

Florida International University to remain open

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ Barry University announced that several of its campuses, sites and points of delivery will close at noon Wednesday in order to prepare for Hurricane Matthew.

The university will close its campuses in Miami Shores, Hollywood, Kendall, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Orlando, Cutler Bay, Sand Lake, Palm Beach, Cape Canaveral, Melbourne, Ocala, Jacksonville and the Bahamas.Ā

Barry University's campuses in Tallahassee, Ft. Myers, Tampa, St. Petersburg and St. Croix will remain open until further notice.Ā 

"We will continue to monitor the path of Hurricane Matthew and will evaluate campus closures and openings following the passing of the storm," Jeremy Jones, a spokesman for Barry University, said.Ā 

Meanwhile, FloridaĀ InternationalĀ University will remain open on Wednesday. A decision regarding classĀ cancellationsĀ and campus closures will be made on Wednesday.Ā
