A principal in South Carolina said during a recent assembly about the dress code that students who are larger than a size 0 or 2 look fat in leggings.
Stratford High School Principal Heather Taylor has been facing backlash from students and parents who feel her comments amounted to "fat-shaming," WCBD reported.

"I'm going to tell you this now. Unless you're a size 0 or a 2 and you wear something like that, even though you're not fat, you look fat," Taylor said, according to a recording obtained by WCBD.
Parents and their kids took to social media to share their thoughts about the incident.
“I’m not a size zero and I kind of felt targeted because of my size,” sophomore Allison Veazey told WCBD.
Other students said they remained supportive of the principal, despite her comment.
“On behalf of some students at Stratford High, we would like to extend our support and appreciation to your administration and Berkeley County for the past 24 years. We understand that you, like us, are human and make mistakes,” one student said, according to People. “We completely realize that your intentions were not to harm us or the students at the assembly.”
Taylor responded in a statement, later provided to People.
“Yesterday and this morning, I met with each class of the Stratford High School student body," the principal said. "I addressed a comment made during a 10th grade assembly and shared from my heart that my intention was not to hurt or offend any of my students in any way. I assured them all that I am one of their biggest fans and invested in their success."
