Western High School evacuated for hazmat situation

Students moved to football field as precaution

DAVIE, Fla. – Western High School in Davie was evacuated Thursday morning as a precaution because of a hazardous materials situation.

Sky 10 was flying above the school as the students were filing onto the football field.

Davie Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Andrew Popick said something was sprayed in the hallway.

Hazmat crews were inspecting the air quality to determine what it was and if it poses a danger.

Four people were treated at the scene.

Students were allowed back inside the school shortly after 1 p.m.
