KEY WEST, Fla. – Thousands of undead cyclists pedaled through Key West on Sunday evening to take part in the annual zombie bike ride.

More than 8,000 people dressed as zombies for the bike ride, coinciding with the opening weekend of Key West's Fantasy Fest.

The undead took a beachfront trek that concluded at Duval Street, where the ZombieFest street party was held.

Among the sightings at this year's zombie bike ride were a super-sized zombie pelican carrying its long-dead catch, a skeleton fish with fangs and red eyes and a smoke-breathing dragon with flapping wings.

This year's Fantasy Fest is themed "Political Voodoo & Ballot Box Barbarians" in recognition of the upcoming presidential election.
