LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla. – A 20-year-old woman from Lighthouse Point is competing in the "Jeopardy!" College Championship.
"I have been watching 'Jeopardy!' on channel 10 since I was about 6 years old," Mari Hanley said.
Hanley found out that she was going to be on "Jeopardy!" on her birthday, Dec. 2, and every day since then she watches the show, using some tools to practice.
Some of the tools include a light, which simulates the camera lights in the studio and a pen that she uses as her buzzer.
Hanley is a junior at Stetson University in DeLand, a small liberal arts college where she studies history and anthropology.
Hanley could win up to $100,000 and she said she is not intimidated by the competition.
"Names like Stanford and Harvard are just names. We are all students together," she said.
Out of 10,000 students who took the online test, 250 were asked to audition and Hanley was one of only 15 chosen to compete.
She said her strongest categories are history, literature (especially Shakespeare) and puns and word games. But she does have a weakness.
"My weaknesses are sports. I only learned two weeks ago what the Heisman Trophy was for," Hanley said.
Hanley's friends are also helping her on Facebook, sending her questions and trying to stump her.
Whether she wins or loses, she has a message for younger students.
"If you just love learning there are so many different places it can take you," Hanley said. "You never know. You might wind up being a contestant on 'Jeopardy!'"
Hanley flies to L.A. next week for taping and the series will air in February.
