POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – There was a feeling of family and fun in the air at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater when the Avett Brothers performed on Saturday, February 4th. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and friendly vibe at the tiny venue that you knew it was going to be a great show! Plus, it was such a nice night to be outside.
The Amphitheater recently reopened after being closed for several years and I can't understand why such a great, intimate venue had to be closed for so long. It only seats 3,000 people so there's not a bad seat in the house! It really feels like going to a concert in a friend's backyard, with a LOT of other friends!

There was no opening act for the Avetts. They came right out at 8 p.m. and launched into the music, to the delight of the fans. The crowd often took over singing songs; everyone seemed to know every lyric and they were thrilled to be singing them live with the band so close in front of them!
Besides the intimacy of the Amphitheater, it is thoughtfully designed as well. The aisles are wide with plenty of room to pass, as are the individual rows. You don't have to get up to let someone get by here! But no one was sitting for the Avetts. As soon as the band hit the stage, everyone was up dancing and singing all night long!
The sound of the Amphitheater is also excellent. Even from out in the parking lot, you can still clearly hear everything that's being played onstage.
It was a terrific night of live music with a very enthusiastic crowd of fans singing along to every song. The Avetts fans seemed to range from the young to the more senior of concertgoers, but still, every single one of them knew every single lyric!
The band kept up an energetic pace; moving from song to song with very little stage banter in between. The crowd loved it; fans were singing and dancing so much they were spilling out into the aisles; prompting the security guards to gently usher them back to dancing in front of their seats, where there was still plenty of room!
It was a beautiful night to be outside at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater for a great evening of live music! I can't wait for all of the terrific shows that are coming up at this hidden little gem.
