'Saturday Night Fever' returns to big screen for 40th anniversary

New director's cut version of 1977 disco-era classic coming to theaters in May

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – "Saturday Night Fever" is dancing back into theaters for its 40th anniversary.

The 1977 disco-era classic starring John Travolta will be rereleased nationwide for two days in May.

A never-before-seen director's cut of the film will be shown at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 7 and May 10 at select theaters.

"Saturday Night Fever" catapulted Travolta to superstardom with his performance as Tony Manero, a 19-year-old from Brooklyn who works a low-paying job at a hardware store to make ends meet and finds solace from his problems at home on the dance floor.

The soundtrack featured several Bee Gees hits, including "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Night Fever," "More Than a Woman" and "You Should Be Dancing."

"Saturday Night Fever" will be shown at theaters from Key West to West Palm Beach. Click here for a complete list of theaters.

Can't make it to the theater? Not to worry. The 40th anniversary director's cut will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning May 2.
