Friday night beats: Lil Uzi Vert’s fans love new Eternal Atake

MIAMI – Lil Uzi Vert’s fans on social media are raving over “Eternal Atake,” his new 18-track album released on Friday.

“Atake” means to overtake," he wrote on Twitter in 2018.

Atlantic Records released the 25-year-old rapper’s second studio album with the singles “Futsal Shuffle 2020” and the Backstreet Boys’ inspired “That Way.”

The Billboard’s Michael Saponara described “Futsal Shuffle 2020” as a “dance-heavy track” that was “gobbled up by fans” last year. He wrote “That Way” channels “the boy-like energy that made his fans fall in love with him during his SoundCloud rise.”

The album is his first since 2017′s “Luv Is Rage 2,″ which propelled him to stardom worldwide. Billboard ranked it as the 13th best album of 2017. In his new album, he collaborated with Syd, a 27-year-old singer from Los Angeles and a former member of Odd Future, on “Urgency.”

“The general consensus on Twitter and fan forums is that the wait was worth it,” PAPER’s Brendan Wetmore wrote, adding that tracks like “POP” and “Celebration Station” are indicative of the album’s theme.

Vulture’s Amanda Gordon wrote the “timeless” tracks’ “space sounds” transport listeners to “Planet Uzi”
