Everything Now with Arcade Fire

Sat., Sept. 23 at Watsco Center

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – South Florida music fans found a way to take a break from post-Irma life with a refreshing evening of live music at the Watsco Center at UM featuring Wolfparade and Arcade Fire, touring behind their latest opus, "Infinite Content".

The concert started early, with Wolfparade taking the stage at 7:30.  The Canadian indie rock crew first broke through back in the early 2000s before taking a break in 2011 and returning to performing just last year.  Although the crowd was still filing in, they had plenty of fans up and dancing for their energetic set!

Arcade Fire hit the stage, as it was, just before 9.  They played in a boxing ring and their stage itself revolved, so it really was theater-in-the-round!  After a faux-pro boxing intro, the band entered through the ropes and burst into "Everything Now", the joyous lead single off their new album.  The fans on the floor went nuts; turning the place into a giant dance club.

The band kept the new music vibe going, seguing into another standout from the new album, "Signs of Life"!  Then, they pulled back to the very beginning of their career with "Rebellion (Lies) from their first album, "Funeral".  Then, frontman Win Butler took off his jacket and poured a bottle of water over his head before the band launched into the frenetic "Here Comes The Night Time" from their award-winning album, "Reflektor"!

The best part of this show is that it seemed like a secret.  There were plenty of available seats and lots of room; and fans were especially apologetic, if accidentally bumping into another person.  The intimate atmosphere made it feel like the concert was just for you!  Both bands put on killer shows.  They are not to be missed!
