MALIBU, Calif. – Despite numerous reports that music legend Tom Petty had died, one report claims the singer is "clinging to life" after being found unconscious and rushed to the hospital on Sunday night.
TMZ reports Petty, 66, was in full cardiac arrest when he was taken to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital from his Malibu, Calif. home.

Although EMT's were able to get a pulse, the report claims Petty was found with no brain activity at the hospital and a decision has been made to pull life support.
TMZ now says that Petty is "clinging to life" and is not expected to make it through the rest of the day.
The Los Angeles Police Department appear to be distancing themselves from being the original source of the report of Petty's death.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, Petty wrapped up a tour with his band, The Heartbreakers, last week at the Hollywood Bowl.
Petty was born in Gainesville, Fla and began his music career in Florida after dropping out of high school.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers racked up multiple hits before Petty went on to achieve equal success as a solo artist.
Petty, a three-time Grammy Award winner, also performed with the Traveling Wilburys, a band consisting of legends Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
