2 charged in fight at dealership

Victims hit while trying to record argument on video, police say

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man and woman were arrested after police say they were involved in an altercation over the return of a vehicle at a Hollywood dealership.

The incident happened before 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the Greenfield car dealership on Dewey Street.

Three people entered the front office of the dealership to speak with Peggy Wu about canceling a contract for the purchase of a vehicle.

Police said a man had placed a $300 deposit for the vehicle and wished to cancel the purchase prior to physical possession. Wu said that the man had to sign a form in order to cancel the contract.

Afterwards, arguing ensued between Wu, the man and two people who came with him, Chianti Henton and Travis Law. Police said two small children were also with Henton and Law.

As the argument began to escalate, Tao-Ling Wu and Phillip Wu came into the office and asked Henton and Law to leave. Peggy Wu also asked the people to leave several times during the argument, authorities said.

As Tao-Ling began to record the incident with a handheld video camera, police said Law confronted Phillip Wu.

According to Hollywood police, Law said, "You want to take a picture of me?" then hit Tao-Ling's hand, which was holding the camera, causing him to stop recording.

Law picked up a chair and began waving it around, police said. Peggy Wu pulled the chair down, causing it to fall to the floor.

Law then left the office and stood near the front warehouse roll up doors while the argument continued. Police said Law then punched Phillip Wu in the face.

Peggy Wu tried using her cell phone when she told police she was pushed from behind by Henton. She then pushed him away and they were then separated.

Peggy Wu tried recording the incident with her cell phone as police said Henton hit her in the forehead with her keys, cutting her. A witness told police that Henton held the keys like a razor blade and slashed her on the forehead.

After the incident, police said Henton and Law left the dealership.

Three different surveillance cameras, handheld video footage, and cell phone video captured the incident. Police said Henton was identified during a simultaneous photo array by Phillip Wu, Peggy Wu, and a witness. Law was identified by a detective based on the video footage.

Police said the two were both then arrested on Nov. 7.

Henton was charged with aggravated battery and battery (touch or strike). Law was charged with aggravated assault and two counts of battery (touch or strike).
