2 More Arrested In Fatal Shootings At Gas Station

Suspect Says Victim 'Didn't Look Scared Enough'

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Police made two more arrests in connection with the fatal shootings of two people at a Miami Gardens gas station.

Police said Thursday that Wayne Williams, 16, and Dylan McFarlane, 18, were indicted in connection with the July shooting deaths of Julian Soler, 23, and his girlfriend, Kennia Duran, 24. Also indicted was Eric Ellington, 16, who was arrested last month.

Soler and Duran were at a Mobil gas station at 16691 NW 57th Ave. on July 25, putting gas in Soler's Mustang, when they were ambushed and forced out of the car at gunpoint.

"These victims were as innocent as they get, these two young victims," said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle.

Police said Ellington shot Soler repeatedly, and then Williams, a high school sophomore, shot Duran. Williams and Ellington then got into a stolen SUV driven by McFarlane, police said.

Fernandez-Rundle said she spoke to Ellington about the shootings.

"When asked why, his answer was, 'I shot him because he didn't look scared enough,'" Fernandez-Rundle said.

While pleased with the arrests, the victims' mothers are still struggling to understand why their children were killed.

"Why didn't they just get in the car and leave? I ask myself that every single day," said Soler's mother, Janine Diaz.

"It was so senseless. There was no point , no justification whatsoever," said Duran's mother, Jackie Serra. "There are people that walk around that have no respect for other human beings, and that's a clear example of who these monsters are."

The three suspects were indicted on charges of first-degree murder. They are being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
