Homeowners at the Sunshine City mobile home community are working to clean up the mess.
A resident named John, who cannot hear or speak, is trying to fix his home with some help from his neighbors. He is uninsured.
"It's pretty sad to see this house gone and the house on the corner gone and my best friend's house ripped apart," said resident Sean McGhee.
The city of Plantation is providing tarps as a temporary fix. Mayor Diane Veltri Bendekovic is hoping for some sort of federal assistance.
"We are doing as much as possible that we can to support our residents," she said.
Although 52 damaged homes may seem like a lot, Veltri Bendekovic said "not enough to (the Federal Emergency Management Agency), unfortunately, and that's where we are. We're right on that edge."
The city is also working to clean up canals filled with debris and roadways covered in trash.
"It's really sad to see everything just go," McGee said.
