BOCA RATON, Fla. – Black Friday has come and gone, but that doesn't mean all the great deals have.
Longtime Boca Raton consignment shop, Serendipity continues to be one of the best places in South Florida to score a bargain—and a designer one at that.
"I saw a Chanel sign and I was like, 'Oh, I have to go in there. I have to see what's going on," said Serendipity shopper Martha Llanes.
Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton are what are going on inside the upscale consignment store that opened its doors 16 years ago.
"My vision was to create a consignment store was like nothing like any other that you found or you would see," owner Lisa Stark said. "It's great value especially in this economy. You still want to dress the best. You still want to have a Gucci purse but you don't have to pay full price."
The designer handbags are what put Serendipity on the map, but the store is also known for designer sportswear, eye wear, jewelry, tops, fur coats and evening gowns.
"To me it's like I just went to Saks or Nordstrom and just bought two bags for the price of one," Llanes said.
New merchandise comes in on a daily basis and if an item is sold, the seller gets 50 percent. However, not everything is accepted. At Serendipity, buyers are picky—and they can certainly afford to be. Items must be like new or barely worn.
