Man sought in 2 Broward bank robberies

Suspect arrested in third bank heist

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Three Broward County banks were robbed Wednesday afternoon, and police are searching for the man who committed two of the crimes after making an arrest in the third.

The FBI believes the same robber struck at two of the banks between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The first robbery occurred about 1 p.m. at the Wells Fargo at 5991 Ravenswood Road in Fort Lauderdale. In that case, the man went into the bank, implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. 

The FBI said no information about whether money was stolen in that case was available. No injuries were reported. 

Investigators believe the robber then went to the BB&T bank at 300 E. Sample Road in Pompano Beach at 1:50 p.m. The robbery was similar, and the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, the FBI said. No injuries were reported in that case, either.

A suspect was taken into custody after a third robbery Wednesday afternoon, which the FBI said did not appear to be related to the first two. That robbery occurred at 1:55 p.m. at a Chase bank at 1031 S. Military Trail in Deerfield Beach.
