Heat fans get free car decals

Team hands out stickers at American Airlines Arena

MIAMI – Even before the sun was up Tuesday, the Heat was on as hundreds of Miami Heat fans did a drive-by at the American Airlines Arena to get a "Let's go Heat" window decal put on their ride.

"We had a line of cars backed up at 6 in the morning, which is when we kicked off. It is usually like that every year. You know the buzz of the team really is very excited right now, and fans really want a piece of the Heat," said the Heats Josh Goshin.

Fans got the decal for free and they were put on in assembly line fashion from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. with another session planned for Tuesday afternoon.

"We do this every year. We have a different decal made every year so we give fans a chance to update their rides and get the freshest Heat gear," said Goshin.

Even the Heat mascot Burnie was along for the ride, as well as the Heat dancers and the Heat Extreme Team, handing out T-shirts and Pepsi to faithful fans.

Dennis Vinas picked up a decal on his way to work. He is convinced the decal has magical powers.

"Well, to win a championship hopefully and get back some revenge on the Mavericks," Vinas said. "Oh, it is definitely going to happen. You just have to show some support for the team."

Burnie and the boys knocked off for the morning session but are going back to the print shop. They said they have already stuck about 350 of the decals on cars so they are going to print 100 or 150 more so they don't run out for the afternoon session.

"People love it. I mean, you would be surprised. People come out with their kids, decked-out Heat fans, jerseys and everything. They really love it. They just come out here to get their sticker," said Eli Marrero of Metro Wraps, the company printing the stickers.

To get a window sticker, just stop by the American Airlines Arena from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
