Boy, 16, fatally shot on Miami Beach

Sources: Teen shot during drug deal

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A 16-year-old boy is fatally shot on Miami Beach late Thursday night during a drug deal, sources said.

Miami Beach police were called to the 79th Street beach entrance when neighbors heard gunshots around 11:50 p.m.

Family members said Robert Lakatos, 16, was walking in the area when an armed robber killed him. He was dead when police arrived.

Local 10 learned that Lakatos went there with one of his brothers to buy marijuana, and presumably, the seller pulled a gun and shot him, Local 10's John Turchin reported.

Investigators did not immediately know if anything was stolen from the victim.

Police said they are looking for a white, Hispanic man between the ages of 16 and 20 years old who is 6 feet tall and weighs 170-180 pounds. He has short, blonde hair, and was last seen wearing black pants and no shirt. He also has a tattoo of a marijuana leaf.

The gunman may be carrying a black book bag, which may have belonged to Lakatos, police said.

Lakatos' grandmther, mother, father and seven brothers and sisters held one another in the Miami Beach Police Headquarters on Friday morning as they pleaded for justice.

"I don't want to believe I lost him," said Lakatos' mother, Robertna Lakatos.

"I love my grandson. He had a very nice heart," said his grandmother, Elizabeth Banyiae.

Lakatos and his grandmother, parents and seven siblings, all of whom are from Hungary, moved to Miami Beach three months ago from Virginia.

"I just need help to catch the people who shoot him," Robertna Lakatos said.
