Bike lanes improved after fatal crash

Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run

MIAMI – Improvements were made Wednesday to the bike lanes on the Rickenbacker Causeway to help to ensure cyclists' safety.

A second white line was painted between the car and bike lanes on the Rickenbacker. Vibratory ridges also will be added to the lanes.

The changes came three months after bicyclist Aaron Cohen and another cyclist were struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Cohen, a father of two, died from his injuries.

Police later arrested Michele Traverso, 25, and charged him with leaving the scene of a deadly crash and driving with a suspended license.
