Teen found in West Park alley identified

Detectives say body of Francisco Santiago, 16, was discovered Wednesday

WEST PARK, Fla. – Detectives say they have identified the teen who was found dead in a West Park alley Wednesday morning.

Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives said the body of 16-year-old Francisco Santiago was discovered around 7 am Wednesday by a man who was walking his dog along the 3800 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

The man told detectives he initially thought the body was a mannequin. As he got closer, he discovered it was a dead body.

Santiago's body was transported to the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. BSO said although detectives are not releasing the cause of death, the manner was ruled a homicide.
