Man shot by police identified

MIAMI – Miami-Dade police identified the man who drove his car into several police vehicles at a robbery investigation, according to detectives.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery at 5345 SW 115th Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

While investigating, Sergio Castillo-Labra hit several police vehicles with his car, police say. Officers shot at the car and hit Castillo-Labra in the thumb.

Castillo-Labra was treated and released by fire rescue. He was later charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and no valid driver's license.

While police investigated the robbery, two men who suffered gun shot wounds were dropped off at Kendall Regional Medical Center, which is about seven blocks from where police were investigating the robbery. One died at the hospital and the other was taken into surgery.

It's unclear if the shooting victims are related to the robbery.
