Female QB gets $20K scholarship

Foot Locker Foundation, DoSomething.org award scholarship to Erin DiMeglio

PLANTATION, Fla. – Foot Locker awarded a $20,000 scholarship to the first female quarterback in Florida high school sports history.

The Foot Locker Foundation and DoSomething.org awarded South Plantation High School student Erin DiMeglio.

"We are so pleased to anniversary this important scholarship program to recognize and celebrate talented and deserving students and provide them with an opportunity to further their education," said Ken C. Hicks, Chairman, President and CEO, Foot Locker, Inc. "Erin perfectly exemplifies the qualities of a Foot Locker Scholar Athlete: academic excellence, sportsmanship and leadership both on and off the field."

"Erin has shown us not only that it takes discipline and determination to participate in an organized sport, but that it takes even more strength to be committed to challenging the status quo off the field," said Nancy Lublin, CEO & chief old person at DoSomething.org. "These young athletes deserve the chance to continue to be successful and strive for bigger opportunities."

DiMeglio became the first female quarterback in state history when she played two snaps in a regular season game.
