Immokalee-based soldiers return after 9-month deployment from Afghanistan

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Soldiers arrived at Fort Lauderdale Airport on Sunday after a 9-month deployment from Afghanistan.

Forty Immokalee-based soldiers returned over the weekend in groups to six airports, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Fort Myers.

Six of the soldiers returned in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday.

The Florida Army National Guard said the 856th Quartermaster Support Company departed Florida last August for federal active service to Afghanistan, where they provided logistical support for coalition forces in support of Operation Enduring.
