61-year-old man shot, killed while washing car

Detectives believe robbery may be possible motive in shooting

MIAMI – Police are investigating after a 61-year-old man was shot in front of his Miami home while he was washing his car.

Roberto Gonzalez was washing his car in the front yard of his home, located in the 2300 block of Northwest 82nd Street, when he was approached and shot around 5 p.m. Tuesday by what appeared to be two young men, according to detectives.

Gonzalez was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where police said he later died.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said the men left the area in a newer model gray Chevrolet Impala.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police said detectives believe that robbery may be a motive in this shooting.
