Fort Lauderdale Strikers hire new coach

Günter Kronsteiner announced as head coach, sports director

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Wednesday hired Günter Kronsteiner as its new head coach and sports director.

Kronsteiner has recently been working as a team consultant and player manager with several teams and players throughout Europe.

"We are extremely excited to be able to sign a coach with the caliber of experience that Günter brings to the Strikers organization," said Strikers President Tom Mulroy. "I've known Günter for many years and have worked together with him on many successful soccer projects. He will help raise the club to another level both on and off the field."

Kronsteiner will begin coaching the Strikers upon approval of his US visa. Until that time, the team will continue to train under interim coach Ricardo Lopes.

Both Lopes and Raoul Voss will remain with the team under Kronsteiner for the fall season.
