1 dead, 1 arrested after stabbing in Hollywood

Hollywood police believe stabbing resulted from fight between 2 men

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police say an early-morning fight between two men led to the stabbing death of one of them early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at 6024 Johnson Street about 5:27 a.m.

Police say Pedro Juan Nieves stabbed Pedro Morales in the back with a wooden kitchen knife. Morales was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of Nieves, claiming that he fled the residence on a bicycle.

Hollywood police located Nieves at 820 N. 72nd Avenue where he was arrested and later positively identified by witnesses.

Nieves is charged with murder, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
