Woman found in Hollywood with gunshot wounds

Silver, 2-door Audi may have been found at bottom of lake

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police in Hollywood are looking for the person who shot a woman and left her on a Hollywood street Friday morning.

According to a Sergeant Pablo Venegas of the Hollywood Police Department, just before 8 a.m., a woman in her late 20's was found on the sidewalk on Sheridan Street near the Sheridan Technical Center.

According to school administrators, she was not a student there.

She had multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition, but was expected to survive.

Police were searching for a silver, newer model Audi two-door vehicle that was seen fleeing the scene.

A few hours later, police got a tip on where that car might be -- at the bottom of a lake in Lauderdale Lakes.

The Broward Sheriff's Office fielded the tip and fished out the car. The dramatic event, 14 miles from the shooting scene was an unexpected sight for a group of 9th grade Boyd Anderson students who were reading a book in English class and saw it all through their classroom's window.

Students say they saw a man jump out of the car before it went into the water.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
