Broward Sheriff's Office warns of man posing as worker

Fake utility worker offered to check residents' water pressure at Lime Bay condos

TAMARAC, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office on Thursday warned of a man who posed as a utility worker to try and get inside at least two condominiums in Tamarac.

The incident happened at 9150 Lime Bay Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon.

According to investigators, the man offered to check on residents' water pressure.

"A young man knocked at my door," said Roz Reines. "And, very, very stupidly I opened it up for him because I thought it was a neighbor. He put his hand out, wanted to shake my hand and I did that. He said there's something wrong with the water pressure and we're just testing it."

Investigators said he was a scam artist.

"I said there's no way I'm letting you into my house," said Reines.

Detectives described him as about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a blue uniform shirt, and plaid shorts.

"He was dressed so meticulously, really," said Reines.

Anyone who sees a suspicious person is asked to call 911.
