Man accused of fatally striking pedestrian in Miami arrested
Investigators believe driver was intoxicated, traveling at high rate of speed
MIAMI – A driver is under arrest after striking a pedestrian and crashing his car into a power pole at the intersection of Northwest 20th Street and 7th Avenue in Miami.
According to a Sergeant on scene, witnesses said the driver was making a right turn on Northwest 7th Avenue when he hit a man crossing there.
Investigators believe the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and was intoxicated.
The pedestrian was treated on scene by a doctor who was in the area but later died after being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the driver, which he failed, police said.
Miami police are hoping the doctor will come forward and provide any information he might know about the crash to assist in the investigation.
