Rumors over Beinfest's removal have been stirring over the last few weeks as the Marlins suffer through another 100-loss season.
Beinfest, who joined the team in 2002 when owner Jeffrey Loria purchased the franchise, was widely considered to be the brains behind the Marlins' second world championship run in 2003.
Following Beinfest's dismissal, Loria released a statement saying "Larry has worked with me for 13 years, making huge contributions to our efforts and serving as a partner to me in the process. I wish him nothing but the best and know he will make a great addition wherever he lands.
Reports have surfaced recently that said Loria had taken over many of Beinfest's duties and has been making most of the team's on-field decisions from as far back as 2009.
Beinfest and Marlins general manager Mike Hill were signed through the 2015 season. Loria also fired Jim Fleming, the Marlins special assistant to the president of baseball operations.
The Marlins, currently 59-100, will wrap up their season with a 3-game home series vs. the Detroit Tigers.
