Upon arrival, police saw Mark Gold along the area of the Rivo Alto Bridge matching the physical description of the suspect who fled from the incident location.

Gold was wearing a dark colored T-shirt and blue jeans. He had visible bruises, scratches and abrasions that indicated he had just been in some type of altercation, police said.

Officers said they went to the incident location afterwards where they made contact with the victim, Gold's fiancee.

Gold's fiancee told police that she had just flown in from Texas and that she and Gold had gotten into a verbal fight over things he found on Facebook about her, in which the fight then became physical.

She told police that Gold struck her face with his hand, and then pushed her to the ground, authorities said.

According to the arrest affidavit, police said alcohol may have been a factor in the early Wednesday morning incident.

Gold was charged with felony battery. Police said his bond was set at $5,000.
