Former TV weatherman found guilty on child sex charges

Rob Lopicola could face 20 years in prison

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A former television weatherman was convicted Thursday of lewd and lascivious conduct and possessing child pornography.

Jurors returned guilty verdicts on two of the three charges against Rob Lopicola. He was acquitted of lewd and lascivious battery.

Lopicola was accused of having sex with a boy he met online.

The former WPTV weatherman testified Thursday, denying that he had sex with the teenager.

Lopicola called the allegations against him humiliating. He said he thought the person with whom he was chatting was 18.

He could face up to 20 years in prison.
