FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – A fight between neighbors turned into a shooting Friday morning.

According to neighbors, a man began banging on the door of a home in the 900 block of Southwest 6th Street.

"When the man [in the house] came out, he hit him," said Junior McNair.

The two began fighting, and the wife of the man inside the home said her husband then shot the other.

"The person is a lot bigger than my husband is and he came to our house," said the man's wife, who asked that she wasn't identified. "My husband was not doing anything wrong. He was defending himself."

Their 4-month-old daughter was home at the time.

"Someone got shot but I don't know who shot who," added McNair. "You hear the two gunshots."

The gunman ran off but was later arrested. He was charged with attempted murder.

"I was panicking, just trying to pray that everything was okay," said the man's wife. "I don't know how things are going to turn out. My daughter's okay. I mean, he's in custody, so we'll just have to see what happens now."

The shooting victim was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Police said he was recovering.

Neighbors said the shooting victim often fights with others in the neighborhood.

Police haven't released the names of the men involved in the shooting.
