Person of interest in missing woman case back in jail

Antwan Kennedy jailed in Pennsylvania; Lynda Meier last seen in June 2010

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – One of the main persons of interest in the disappearance of 40-year-old Lynda Meier is back behind bars in Pennsylvania.

Antwan Kennedy is in custody in Union County on a violation of probation charge. He was arrested in South Florida last month and extradited.

Detectives in Hallandale Beach, where Meier lived, hope it persuades anyone with new information to come forward.

"There was some apprehension in sharing information while he was out," said Capt. Pedro Abut. "Now that he is in custody and out of the state, we are hoping the public comes forward."

Meier hasn't been seen since leaving her apartment at 5:17 a.m. on June 4, 2010. Kennedy, 30, is considered a person of interest in her disappearance.

"We spoke to him on the day he was taken into custody but he didn't have anything to say," said Abut.

Police say they still receive phone calls and leads, but those haven't led detectives to a body or an arrest.

Kennedy was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and placed on parole in 2007 for injuring three Bucknell University students with a pellet gun.

Detectives say Kennedy violated the terms of his probation when he filed a false police report and drove on a suspended license.

Kennedy and Meier were acquaintances.

Dallas King, another person of interest and apparent friend of Kennedy's, had Meier's credit cards and debit card after she vanished. Police say he and Kennedy had several conversations before and after Meier's disappearance.

King has since been sentenced to life in prison for an unrelated crime.

The Meier family is offering a $100,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction.
