MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department issued a precautionary boil water order Wednesday for a part of Miami-Dade County area after an 8-inch water main broke earlier in the day.
This boil water order is in effect for 20 to 25 homes in the area of Northwest 191st Street to 192nd Street between 37th Court and 39th Avenue.
Affected residents will receive a notice from the department.
County officials said repairs are expected to be completed by late Wednesday afternoon.
Once water service is restored, affected homeowners are asked to bring all water used for drinking or cooking purposes to a full rolling boil for at least one minute until further notice prior to consumption.
There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs, authorities said.
WASD said it will be sampling the water and once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted.
Those with any questions may call the department's Communications Center at 305-274-9272.
