That's when, according to police, the passenger, 29-year-old Aaron Williams, pulled out a knife and said, "I need money. If you don't give me money, I'm going to start cutting things."

Aurelien ran out of the cab just as Williams attempted to stab him, police said. Williams then reportedly began to stab the cab's seats, surveillance camera and credit card machine.

He then fled the scene with the victim's backpack containing personal items and $40 in cash.

On Jan. 1, detectives arrested Williams and charged him with robbery with a weapon, grand theft and criminal mischief. Police say he has a past criminal history for petit theft and probation violation.
