Florida restaurant offering python pizza

Pie is called 'The Everglades' because of the pythons in national park

FORT MYERS, Fla. ā€“ A restaurant in Southwest Florida is becoming internationally famous for one of its unusual pizza options.

Evan's Neighborhood Pizza in Fort Myers sells a pie topped with python meat. It's called 'The Everglades' because pythons have gone wild in the national park.

Evan's doesn't get the snake from the Everglades. It imports the meat from Vietnam, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.

'The Everglades' pie also has alligator meat and frog legs.

Expect to pay double or triple what you usually shell out for a regular pie, depending on the market price of the python. On Tuesday, it was selling for 45 dollars for a 14-inch pie. If you want to chow down, you should call ahead to see if they have python in the fridge. They did when Local 10 called.

Evan's has many unusual offerings on its menu, including 'The Alligator', which is billed as a blend of gator meat and sausage.

Evan's says it's not just about bizarre toppings. The restaurant brags on its website that all meals are hand-made to order and that the pizzas have garlic butter crust.
