Historic Fort Lauderdale home catches fire

Flames put out quickly; The Gilliam House still damaged

FORT LAUDERDALE – Fort Lauderdale firefighters rushed to a fire at a building known as The Gilliam House Monday morning.

The building was added to the US National Register of Historic Places in
2001 and is located at 11 Southwest 15 Street.

The fire was reported at 4:35 a.m., Monday morning.

The flames were quickly extinguished, but the first floor was damaged.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
